About the research:
We hope that by interviewing students on their experiences as FOO participants, we will better understand how and why the curriculum works and which components of the curriculum are most effective.

Participation is optional and voluntary:
Participation in research is completely optional and voluntary. Students may choose to participate in the FOO curriculum but not participate in research. There will be no penalty for choosing to not participate in research, and students may discontinue participation at any time (and continue to participate in the FOO course should they so desire). It is necessary for students to have permission from a guardian in order to participate in research.

What the research involves:
Research participants will take the exact same course as students who choose not to participate in research. The only difference is that research participants will take two questionnaires at the beginning (during the weeks of October 8-12 and Oct 15-19) and two questionnaires at the end (December 17-21). The questionnaires will take no more than twenty minutes each to complete. Participants will also complete a one-hour interview with Johanna at the program’s completion, which will be scheduled to take place the week of December 17-21. The survey and interview questions will relate to how girls feel about their bodies, and what they liked most and learned from the program.

Risks:
The questionnaires being used in our research are tested and validated and have not been associated with any risks or harm to the participants. The types of interview questions being used also have not been associated with any harm to participants.

Confidentiality:
All questionnaires and interviews will be taken anonymously. Records of participant’s names and contact information will be kept confidential and will not be published in our research or shared with any outside person or organization.
